Theatre Commander of counter-insurgency operation northeast, Maj Gen Christopher Musa has commended the military authorities for provision of additional accommodation and improvement of the existing ones for troops in the northeast.

 

Gen Musa who spoke during the handing-over of some medical equipments and items to the Nigerian Army Hospital and Medical Services, 7 Division Maiduguri by the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), specifically commended the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, for his accommodation interventions for troops in the theatre.

 

“We need more accommodation for our troops here though the military is doing a lot particularly the Chief of Army Staff. The army has been providing accommodation but honestly the fund is not enough to get more acommodation,” he said.

 

He appealed to states in the northeast, corporate bodies and international organizations to partner with the military in providing more accommodation for troops and supporting efforts to end insurgency and terrorism in the country.

He said the counter-insurgency war is by for all Nigerians and not military alone. “The war is for all Nigerians because we have diverse people of different background in the theatre. Some have also paid the supreme price,” he said.

 

He said the fighting against the insurgents which is the Kinetic aspect of the operation, accounts for about 25 percent. He explained that other s; including provision of timely and adequate information by members of the public, improved welfare package for troops, social reorientation of youths, provision of basic amenities to liberated communities, economic empowerment and civil support for the military, among others, are the non-kinetic aspect which make about 75 percent of the operation.

 

“The kinetic cannot succeed without the non-kinetic aspect,” he declared. He assured of troops unflinching support to bring terror and terrorism in the northeast to an end.
