Claims heads of LGs signed MOU with Adeleke in Osun untrue, forum says

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The Forum of Heads of Local Government in Osun State has described as ‘untrue’ the claim that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The Chairman of the forum, Dr Adewale Adedapo, in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, refuted claims that a meeting was held with the governor on the funding of the state projects.

He described the claims as ‘unsubstantiated lies’ fabricated to score cheap points from the unsuspecting populace.

According to Adedapo, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) is the only body that has the right to make such a decision if the need arises.

He said, “I make bold to say categorically here that no meeting was held with the government on any MOU, and that if any drastic decision is to be made at the local government, ALGON is the only constitutionally recognised body to do such.

“I want to refute the useless allegations and clear the air on this non-existent MOU. This will not deter our unflinching support for the worker’s friendly Administration of Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke towards building a sustainable Local Government system and giving comfort and dividend of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
