The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has thrown its weight behind the Federal Government’s tax reforms.
President /Chairman of the Council, Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi expressed support for the initiative during the Institute’s 51st induction ceremony of new members in Lagos, warning that the Institute would not tolerate any form of misconduct by any member.
CITN President charged 1365 inducted associates to keep learning, unlearning and relearning if they must remain relevant in the tax profession. “CITN remains unwavering in its commitment to always provide technical support and advice in shaping government policies as we progress in tax reforms.
“Members must be up to date with happenings in the taxation landscape and help the government in implementating of its well-crafted policies. To do this, we must be fortified with the right skill set. We must be distinctive by the depth of knowledge we possess and the level of professionalism we demonstrate,” he said.
Agbeluyi admonished the new members to project the Institute positively through ethical conduct by striving for excellence at all times in their service to employers, clients and stakeholders.
Keynote Speaker at the event, Mr. Albert Folorunsho, who is the Managing Consultant, Kreston Pedabo told inductees that “you must use your knowledge and experience to make an impact that would affect everyone around you and Nigeria at large.”
The Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, Alhaji Mohammed Isyaku, the Executive Chairman of Katsina state Internal Revenue Services, also charged the tax professionals to uphold the virtues of integrity, accountability, and transparency at all times.
