The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for both human resource professionals and accounting experts to face the future challenges in the workplace head-on.
At the event yesterday, the Registrar/ CEO of CIPM, Busola Alofe, said organisations must begin to see human resource as “an end and not means to end”, hence the need for human capital development. According to her, CIPM & ACCA would henceforth cross- breed to equip both members to have adequate knowledge from each body for value creation and retaintion. “Since people can now work from anywhere, organisations need to be more sensitive and wholelistic in their businesses. As people and change managers, we know the work of human resource and accounting experts are indispensable but they need to be equipped with the knowledge of each other’s profession. “CIPM & ACCA will begin to share knowledge through our curriculum review to prepare our respective members for the foreseeable challenges in the workplace,” she maintained…”
On her part, the vice President of CIPM, Titilayo Akinsanya, maintained that the synergy between CIPM and ACCA professionals meant to understand finance and accounting for better corporate leaders. She maintained that it would endue them to maximize human potential and appropriate finances in the most meaningful manner to enrich people within the organisation.
The vice president said, the partnership would go a long way in driving the institute’s engagement level and enable it to connect effectively and effectively for increased productivity in the workplace.
“What it means for the ACCA is that they are no longer proficient with pursuing figures and numbers; they are more focused on the people that drive the numbers and the figures. This is about us putting people first, then figures together for enhanced figures, enhanced productivity and sustainability.
“This cross -pollination of ideas is critical in building capacity to unleash well-rounded blend of experts in Nigeria and Africa. It is really about posterity and about thriving in the future,” Akinsanya said.
Similarly, the country Head, ACCA- Nigeria, Tom-Isibor, said the significance of the parnetrship portends a lot of opportunities for members of both professional bodies on capacity capability, research and development as well as making them smart personnel.
According to him, “This partnership is timely especially now members need relevant upskilling and reskilling in the work place, either at home or in office. We shall share curriculum with CIPM. We want to look at how can we develop the skillset of individuals on digital capabilities.
“We have started developing our syllabus for effective delivery. With CIPM, we are partnering on how we can develop those meet the future challenges in the workplace to enhance productivity. Value creation to members through continuous professional development (CPD) is our top priority,” he stressed.
