The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has intensified efforts to secure the future of Nigeria’s insurance industry by grooming a new generation of competent, ethical and visionary leaders capable of sustaining the sector’s growth and building on the legacy of their predecessors.

At the 2026 Youth Mentorship Programme (BOOTCAMP 7.0), held at the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM), Ogun State, the President/Chairman of Council, Mr Akinjide Orimolade, said the session was the Institute’s initiative for experienced practitioners to nurture the next generation of insurance professionals.

With the theme, “Innovate, Influence & Thrive: Young Professionals in a Digital Economy,” Orimolade charged the young professionals to be curious, creative and courageous in challenging conventional approaches if they must stand the test of time.

“As future leaders of our profession, you must continually seek new ways to improve customer experiences, develop innovative insurance solutions and leverage technology to create greater value for society”

He reminded them that true influence is not determined by position or title, but by competence, integrity, professionalism and the positive impact one makes in one’s environment. “Every young professional has the capacity to become an ambassador for the insurance industry by demonstrating excellence, ethical conduct and a commitment to lifelong learning”

“The final aspiration of this year’s theme is to ‘thrive’. Thriving means remaining relevant in an environment of constant change. It requires resilience, emotional intelligence, adaptability and an unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth. It also demands that we continually develop new competencies that prepare us not only for today’s opportunities but for the future of work”

He assured that the Institute remains committed to developing competent professionals who will lead the transformation of the Nigerian insurance industry. However, capacity development remains central to CIIN’s strategic vision because it recognises that the future of the insurance profession will ultimately be determined by the investments the doyens make in its people today.

“This Youth Mentorship Programme is a reflection of that commitment. Beyond technical knowledge, it seeks to inspire leadership, encourage innovation, strengthen professional values and build meaningful relationships that will support your growth throughout your careers.

“As future leaders of the insurance profession. The industry needs your ideas, your energy, your creativity and your commitment to excellence. Let this Bootcamp inspire you to think differently, lead responsibly and pursue your aspirations with confidence and integrity.

“Let the knowledge you gained broaden your perspectives, strengthen your professional capacity and prepare you to become innovative leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the Nigerian insurance industry” he charged.
