Former Rivers State governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended Christmas goodwill to non-indigenes living in the state, with the donation of thousands of bags of rice and wrapper.
Wike demonstrated this gesture through the national leader of the group and his former Commissioner for Special Duties, Governor’s Office, Mr. Chukwuemeka Onowu.
Speaking at the event held in Port Harcourt, leader of non-indigenes in the state, Onowu, acknowledged his principal’s love for the group of people in Rivers, which Wike had demonstrated as a governor and even as a minister.
He noted that Wike, in his eight years in office as governor, appointed a non-indigene in his cabinet for eight years, media aide and local government officials.
Onowu expressed: “In the eight years Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was in office as Rivers State governor, he appointed a non-indigene as commissioner for eight years. He appointed a non-indigene as his media aide and others.

“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has always shown his love for the non-indigenes living and doing business in Rivers State. He is a detribalised Nigeria.”
Earlier, Mr. Dennis Oguibe, the group’s Coordinator in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of the state, said that Wike gave non-indigenes recognition during his eight years as Rivers State governor.
He said: “Non-indigenes in Rivers State were known; our voices were heard when Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was governor for eight years.”
Similarly, Mr. Joel Macy, Coordinator, Non-Indigenes, Ikwerre LGA, thanked the FCT minister for showing inestimable love for non-Rivers people living and doing business in the State.
He noted Wike’s acknowledgement of the group’s commitment to the development of the state and prayed God to protect and give the minister and their leader, Onowu, wisdom in serving the people.
Highlights of the event were intercessory prayer for President Bola Tinubu, Wike and their leader, as well as donation of a bag of rice and wrapper each to all the people present at the event.
