The Delta State Police Command on Wednesday said it has deployed its personnel massively to resorts and other fun centres across the to forestall any breakdown of law and order before, during and after the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Public Relations Officer of the Command DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement issued in Asaba, said all area commanders, DPOs and tactical commanders have been directed to effect the deployment.
Edafe said the deployment was part of efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali, to ensure that mischief makers do not show up at venues for celebration to cause mayhem for fun seekers.
He stated: “Police patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, Safer Highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response Squad, and Eagle-Net Special Squad for this purpose.
“Traffic control at the Head bridge has equally been taken care of as both police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed solely for the purpose of traffic control while the DPOs of ‘B’ and ‘C’ divisions, Asaba and the state traffic officer have been tasked with the responsibility of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.”
According to Edafe, CP Ali has also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (operations) to organise a continuous ‘OPERATION SHOW OF FORCE’ till December 24 in all parts of the state.
He urged members of the public to be law abiding and continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminality while assuring them of the command’s commitment to providing security, maintenance of law and order, and protection of lives and properties among other duties.
