Digital Equity Africa has officially announced the launch of its flagship international learning experience, the “Live in the Future” AI & Innovation Immersion Summer Camp in Shenzhen China, a pioneering initiative designed to expose young Africans to the technologies, innovations, and ecosystems shaping the future of humanity.
This summer, a select cohort of 30 participants aged 5 to 17 years and team will travel to Shenzhen, China, widely recognized as China’s Silicon Valley and one of the world’s most advanced technology and innovation hubs, for a transformative learning journey into Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Smart Manufacturing, Emerging Technologies, and Innovation.
The theme, “Live in the Future,” reflects the belief that the best way to prepare young Africans for tomorrow is to allow them to experience it today.
Often described as a city that is “living in 2070,” Shenzhen offers a glimpse into the future through its seamless integration of artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, smart infrastructure, and technology-driven lifestyles.
The immersion program is designed to move beyond classroom learning and provide participants with direct exposure to real-world applications of emerging technologies.
The camp will include visits to leading robotics companies, AI laboratories, innovation centers, technology parks, research institutions, and advanced manufacturing facilities, allowing
participants to witness firsthand how technology is transforming industries and societies.
In addition to the youth immersion experience, Digital Equity Africa will lead strategic discussions with some of the world’s foremost robotics and technology companies to explore partnerships for the development of Robotics and Innovation Centers across Nigeria.
These engagements aim to support the creation of sustainable pathways for robotics education, AI literacy, and innovation development at the primary, secondary, and tertiary education levels.
Speaking on the initiative, Justina Oha, Founder and CEO of Digital Equity Africa, said: “The future cannot be taught solely through textbooks. It must be experienced.
”Our vision is to connect African children directly to the world’s most advanced innovation ecosystems, allowing them to see, touch, build, and understand the technologies shaping the future. We want them to return inspired, equipped, and empowered to become creators of technology rather than merely consumers of it.”
She added: “This immersion is the beginning of a much larger movement. Our goal is to establish innovation experience centers and robust robotics programs across schools and communities in Nigeria, creating pathways for millions of young Africans to participate meaningfully in the global AI economy.”
Participants will engage in artificial intelligence and robotics workshops, Interactive coding and innovation challenges, visits to world-leading robotics and technology companies, hands-on exposure to real-world AI applications, innovation and design thinking sessions, entrepreneurship and future-of-work discussions, cross-cultural exchange experiences technology demonstrations and immersive learning experiences.
The program is being delivered through Digital Equity Africa’s Future Minds AI Community, an initiative dedicated to preparing African children and young people for success in an increasingly AI-driven world.
By providing direct access to global innovation ecosystems, Digital Equity Africa is helping to bridge the gap between African talent and emerging opportunities in technology while laying the foundation for a future where African youth are active builders of the technologies that will shape the next century.
