The Action People’s Party (APP) has adopted Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, popularly known as Mazi Ggburugburu, as its consensus candidate for the Imo East (Owerri) senatorial poll at its zonal primaries held at the Iwuanyawu Glass House Secretariat at the weekend.
His emergence followed a motion moved by Hon. Ugochukwu Metford Nnah, LGA Party Chairman of Mbaitoli, seconded by Engr. Henry Alaribe, the Zonal Chairman, and received overwhelming endorsement from delegates and stakeholders present at the congress.
The exercise was conducted by a team led by Barr. Obed Agor and witnessed by the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner and INEC monitoring team, with National Chairman Barr. Uche Nnadi and other critical stakeholders also in attendance.
The party described Dr Amadi’s emergence as a reflection of confidence in his leadership capacity, political maturity and grassroots acceptability, noting that his philosophy of inclusiveness and accountability resonates strongly with the aspirations of the people.
The APP maintained that Imo East requires a senator with deep understanding of governance and strong legislative competence, insisting that Dr Amadi possesses these attributes in abundance.
