The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has distanced itself from a circular purporting that it had withdrawn the licences of three Deposit Money Banks in the country.
The poorly-written circular that is being circulated on social media, especially WhatsApp, claimed that the CBN had withdrawn the licences of Heritage Bank, Unity Bank and Keystone Bank.
It advised the customers of the three banks to withdraw all their funds using an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or transfer the same to another bank “now before it will be too late”.

It advised the public to circulate the information contained therein to colleagues, family and friends.
“Let’s be of help to others,” it further reads.
In a post on its verified Facebook page on Wednesday, the apex bank described the circular as a “fake document” intended to mislead the general public.
“It has nothing to do with the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the post reads.
