The electoral officials at Yahaya Umaru 010 Polling Unit in Gombe metropolis experienced some challenges while trying to accredit the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Muhammad, Inuwa Yahaya, cast his vote.
Inuwa arrived at his polling unit at Gombe Science Secondary School in Gombe local government at around 11:52am.
The smart card reader failed to authenticate his fingerprint, forcing him to use the fingerprint authentication form to vote.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote, Inuwa commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving on the electoral process. He also praised the orderly conduct of voters at the polling unit.
Commenting on the low turnout of voters across polling units in the state, he called on voters to come out and cast their votes as their civic responsibility.
“I had report of vote buying somewhere in the state, but you know that is not my responsibility, it is for INEC and security agents to handle,” APC gubernatorial candidate said.
