A 25 -year-old car washer, Olamide Quadri has been arrested for allegedly crushing a pedestrian to death and injuring three others in Mushin, Lagos
It was gathered that the suspect who was given a a car to wash when he took the car away .
Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said after he finished washing the car he decided to test run it without the consent of the owner.
Hundeyin said it was in the process of test running it that he had an accident with the car killing one person and injuring three others.
He said: “On Sunday June 2, at about 8:20pm the Divisional Police Officer received a distress call about the fatal accident at Olosha, Agege motor road, Mushin.
“The DPO immediately went to the scene where a Toyota Camry car somersaulted several times and knocked down four pedestrian. The victims were rushed to the hospital, where one of them identified as Tayo died while receiving treatment.”
Hundyin, however, said the suspect was arrested and detained.
“During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the suspect is a carwasher and the car was taken to him to wash by the owner, but he decided to drive the car for test running without the consent of the owner and eventually had accident with it.
“The accidented car was recovered and moved to Alakara police station, while the remains of the victim had been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy, while efforts was ongoing to get across the deceased family”.
