Former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has urged Nigerian youths to shun social vices and embrace patriotism.
General Buratai made call at a public presentation of a book in his honour, titled ” Life Principles For Greatness From The Life Of Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai Rtd Lessons For Today’s Youths.” in Abuja.
The former C Chief of Army Staff who stressed that life is all about originality, highlighted the importance of discipline patriotism and commitment in one’s life.
“I urge you to embrace good values, support the government initiatives and work towards building a better future for ourselves and generations unborn.
Let us shun violence and instead channel our energies towards nations building and collective change.”
“As youths, just be yourself and you will see the result. Some will call it greatness or leadership but whatever it is, it’s as a result of commitment, compassion and empathy for your institution or nation” the Former Chief of Army Staff stated.
“This book is not just a tribute to me but a gift to the youths and future leaders who will draw inspiration from the lessons shared in it” he stressed.
“That key word seen in the book is greatness but I see it as responsibility,it is the people that I led that are great”
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Yusuf Mamman, who hailed Gen Buratai for his contribution towards national building added that what attracted him most was the lessons for today’s youths
Earlier, the author of the book, Dr. MS Abubakar attributed that bad governance is responsible for terrorism and insurgency in the country.
He insisted that guns and bullets has nothing to do without the review of the present style of governance.
Dr. Abubakar noted that if the government can reduce poverty rate, terrorism and insurgency will be a thing of the past.
Speaking on what motivated him to write the book, he emphasized that it was the dedication and commitment of the Retired General to the protection of the poor masses.
The author added that Nigeria is in the present situation because the family, religious groups and the school have failed the nation.
