Golden community development association development association in Jakande estate Ejigbo local government of Lagos state in conjunction with other bungalow estate communities is presenting the Unity festival 2026 games edition season one for the youths in the area.
The festival which will run for two days 14th -15th of August, will feature games like football, playstation games, snooker, ludo, chessboard, table tennis, draughts and other recreational games.
At the press briefing organised by the committee chairperson of the festival, Mrs Esther Sodade and Albert Ohams, the public relations officer of Golden community, Mrs Sodade said the aim of the summer festival is to engage the youths of the area in a meaningful and impactful exercises that will expose them to future challenges and bring out their hidden talents in the various activities of the event.
She said the youths of these days need such engagements to prevent bad vices as substance abuse , digital and screen addiction, gambling and involvement in anti social groups like cultism and thuggery.
Mr Albert Ohams corroborated by saying that these harmful habits often stem from peer pressure, curiosity or lack of parental guidance.
Other activities lined up for the event includes wellness exercise where residents would do vital health checks like blood pressure , sugar, eye and other necessary tests,
Dignitaries expected at the opening ceremony are Lagos state commissioner for youth and sports, Ejigbo LCDA chairman, top government officials, high profile residents of the area as well as school owners.
Winners of various categories of games will be presented with trophies, awards, plaques and certificates.
