Buhari insists devaluation won’t benefit Nigeria

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his doubt in the hope that vast ma­jority of ordinary Nigerians would derive tangible benefit from devaluation of the Naira.

He is skeptical, he said, because the citi­zens have got nothing to show for previous devalution.

The President said, at a meeting with members of the Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries, that he still held the conviction which motivated his principled resistance to devaluation during his first ten­ure as Head of State, because past exercises gave Nigerians neither additional jobs nor factories.
