Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the governorship election which held on November 11, 2023.
Uzodinma defeat his closest opponent Samuel Anyanwu, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with over 400,000 vote in an election many said was marred by irregularities.
Announcing the result, INEC Returning Officer Professor Abayomi Fasina said Uzodinma polled 540,308 defeating the PDP and the Labour Party candidates Samuel Anyanwu and Atham Achonu who scored 71,503 and 64,081 respectively.
