Controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos for abusing the Naira. The verdict was delivered by Justice Abimbola Awogboro following a review of the facts of the case.

During the proceedings, Bobrisky, in his allocutus, informed the court that he was not aware of the law regarding the abuse of the Naira. He asserted his status as a social media influencer with over five million followers. However, the judge reminded him that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

Expressing remorse for his actions, Bobrisky requested a second chance to utilize his platform to educate his followers about the implications of spraying money. He pledged to create a video on his social media page to raise awareness and educate people about responsible monetary behavior.

The judge, in response, acknowledged Bobrisky’s plea but stressed the importance of upholding the law. Despite the plea for leniency, the court proceeded with the conviction.

Bobrisky was initially arraigned on four counts of naira abuse by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The cross-dresser, who refers to himself as the “Mummy of Lagos,” pleaded guilty to the charges during the trial.

The conviction serves as a reminder of the legal consequences associated with financial misconduct, irrespective of one’s social status. It underscores the principle of accountability and adherence to the laws governing the nation’s currency.

Bobrisky’s case highlights the intersection of social media influence and legal responsibility, emphasizing the need for individuals, especially public figures, to be mindful of their actions and their potential impact on society.
