Borno: NCPC empathizes with VP, Zulum over flood incident

From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has empathized with the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, and the people of Borno State, over the flood incident that ravaged Maiduguri, the state capital, and environs on Tuesday.

Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head Media and Public Relations, NCPC, in a statement, on behalf of the Executive Secretary and Chairman of the Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite and Prof. Cletus Gotan, respectively, on Wednesday, noted that the flood incident is most unfortunate and regrettable considering the fact that such uncanny disaster has not occurred for over three decades.

He extended heartfelt concern to the Vice President, the Government of Borno State and the victims, who were adversely affected by the devastating flood incident which was as a result of the overflow of the Alo Dam.

He affirmed that words are not enough to describe the huge damage the flood has caused on the people of the State whose properties, homes and critical infrastructure were submerged, and as such had displaced many families and disrupted the livelihoods of countless residents of the State.

He charged all the emergency Agencies both in Borno and at the Federal level, to work in synergy, in order to save the situation from further destructions, with assurance that President Bola Tinubu, will give maximum support to the State to cushion the effect of the flood.

The NCPC management also affirmed that the people of Borno State need the prayer and support of all Nigerians at the moment, praying that the Good Lord come to the rescue of the State and provide succour to the victims of the flood incident.
