The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has commended the zeal and commitment of the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East and Borno State, in particular.
He also commended officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army (NA) for their sacrifices in restoring peace and stability to Borno State and reiterated his unflinching support in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency. He, however, called on the army to speed up its effort in facilitating the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
Zulum said this when the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede, led a delegation of senior military officers on a courtesy call on him at the State Government House in Maiduguri.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Oluyede appreciated the governor for his support to the Nigerian Army in its effort to end the menace of terrorism in Borno State.
He called for sustained support of the state government to expeditiously tackle the security challenge. The Army chief assured the governor and the good people of the state of the resolute commitment of the Nigerian Army to create a safe and secure environment for the people to live their normal lives.

in a statement, said the COAS is in Maiduguri as part of his operational visit to assess the operational readiness of troops as well as motivate them for operational effectiveness in the ongoing counter-terrorism counter-insurgency operations in the North East theatre of operations.
