Boko Haram has abducted at least two people during an attack on a community near Chibok in the southern part of Borno.

The insurgents targeting foods, livestock and other consumables, attacked Pemi, a remote community in Chibok Local Government according to sources.

About a dozen residents were injured in the attack that started at about 7pm last Tuesday, a source at Chibok told The Sun on Thursday. Information about the at incident was not immediately known in Maiduguri, the state capital due to the remoteness of the area and poor communication facility.

Chibok Local Government is located at the edge of Sambisa Forest, Boko Haram’s operational headquarters now controlled by its splinter group and rival, Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).

Chibok became known globally after the kidnap of 276 female students, all teenagers, at a government boarding school in the area on the night of 14th April, 2014 by Boko Haram. It was the first biggest abduction at a public institution in Nigeria. The incident attracted national and international condemnation
