The Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, Gabriel Adole, has declared that the return of Governor Hyacinth Alia to the Government House in 2027 is “sacrosanct”, insisting that the Governor has no equal in terms of achievements.
Adole made the declaration while hosting newsmen during a fact-finding mission of his local government.
He highlighted what he described as the administration’s achievements in local government administration, infrastructure and security across his local government and the state in general.
According to him, Governor Alia has introduced improvements in the welfare and working conditions of local government leaders, including the provision of vehicles for chairmen, secretaries, vice-chairmen and council leaders.
Adole said, “Currently, Governor Hyacinth Alia has no equal. When I was a councillor about 22 years ago, there was nothing like allowances, vehicles or other support for councillors. Today, Alia has approved vehicles for leaders, secretaries, vice-chairmen and others,” he said.
The council chairman also commended the Governor for what he described as unprecedented road construction in the southern part of the state, noting that several local governments were benefiting from the administration’s ongoing projects.
Adole said the Governor’s achievements were enough to guarantee his re-election in 2027, adding that supporters were already looking beyond a second term to what he could accomplish afterwards.
Adole noted that “We are not even talking about his return in 2027. We are thinking of what other things God has in stock for him. Because he is going back in 2027 with that result. Nobody can tell you otherwise because they have done so much for us.”

On security, the Ohimini council boss said his administration had adopted dialogue as a major strategy for maintaining peace and protecting farmers during the planting season.
He explained that the council had reached an understanding with herders over their movement into the area, allowing them to leave during the farming season to enable residents to access their farms safely.
Adole said the approach had contributed to a significant reduction in kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities in the area, which he described as previously one of the most affected local government areas.
He further disclosed that when some residents were recently kidnapped, the state government responded by deploying security personnel, who mounted pressure on the kidnappers and eventually helped the victims escape from the bush.
According to him, the intervention demonstrated the Alia administration’s commitment to security and had restored confidence among residents.
The chairman said, “My local government was the most affected in the whole area when it comes to kidnapping. But today, we are not talking about kidnapping anymore,” expressing appreciation to the state government and security agencies for their interventions.
