NASA has scheduled the undocking of the uncrewed Boeing Starliner capsule from the International Space Station (ISS) for no earlier than September 6, following a comprehensive review.
The agency previously announced that the two astronauts who travelled to the ISS aboard Starliner in June will return to Earth via a SpaceX vehicle in early 2025.
Starliner’s first 24 hours at the International Space Station revealed problems with its propulsion system, which made a crewed return to the station extremely dangerous. It is expected that the capsule would return to Earth in six hours, arriving at White Sands Space Harbour in New Mexico with the assistance of a parachute.

Ground teams will remotely oversee the undocking, re-entry, and landing procedures.
This will be Starliner’s third uncrewed orbital flight test, with two previous missions having successfully demonstrated entry and landing capabilities.
