•Reiterates call for release of Nnamdi Kanu
From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri
National Vice -Chairman (South-East) of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chilos Godsent has alleged that the upsurge in the killings of innocent citizens across the nooks and crannies of the country was a clear demonstration of the weakness of the President Bola Tinubu-led APC administration and the manifestation of the lopsided appointments of heads of security agencies based on tribalism and nepotism.
This is even as he reiterated that the approval of state police would help in tackling the insecurity in the country, saying those that would man the state police would be indigenes of the state.
He also called for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu noting that his unconditional release from detention would improve the security situation in the South-East.
Mr Chilos, who stated this in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Friday, said that the entire security architecture requires reconfiguration.
“The Federal Government should reorganise the security architecture, retire those who should have been retired and dismiss those who should be dismissed, while some have to be redeployed. It has been alleged that bandits have infiltrated the entire security agencies. So, we need a total overhauling of the entire security agencies in the country.”
He added: “Tinubu who had promised during his campaigns of restructuring the country has shown lack of will power to carry out his campaign promises, which include the establishment of state police. “The release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will improve the security situation in the South-East.
Right now, we don’t know criminals hiding behind the IPOB to commit atrocities. But if Nnamdi Kanu is released we will know those who are really fighting for Biafra and the real criminals. It would be separating the wheat from the chaff Today every crime in the South-East are allegedly attributed to the IPOB,” he said.
