The former Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council in Bayelsa State, Dr Bello Bina, has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government led by Bola Tinubu for addressing the plight of the Sangana people, who have long been affected by ocean surge and coastal erosion.

He recently raised an alarm about the erosion threatening coastal communities in the Brass Local Government Area, particularly the Sangana community. Dr Bina urged the federal government and oil companies operating in the area to urgently intervene to resolve this pressing issue.

Following a visit by Ogbuku, Dr. Bina, in a state of elation, praised Tinubu’s administration for being responsive to the community’s needs. He emphasized the importance of having a federal government that not only listens but also takes action to address the people’s challenges.

Dr Bina, who is also the Chairman/CEO of Be-Multi World Plus Limited, commended the NDDC boss for visiting Sangana despite the adverse conditions, citing this as a demonstration of leadership, courage, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of the Niger Delta people.

“We, the Sangana people, feel so loved and honoured to have the high-powered NDDC delegation,” he stated.

“The visit is indicative of the President’s will to solve the problems of the ordinary people in the Niger Delta.

“We also believe the federal government through the NDDC will solve the age-long ocean encroachment which has destroyed valuable properties and displaced several residents.

“We are confident that this visit will mark the beginning of a collaboration between our people and government towards solving this searing issue of ours.

“We therefore promise to give them all the support they need whenever work begins.

“Let the various multinational oil companies operating in our area liaise with the NDDC to bring respite to our people.”

He also commended the Commission’s Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, the Director of Procurement, Dr Doode Week, and other members of the delegation that accompanied the MD.

It was gathered that the NDDC will undertake the piling job including putting wave breakers among other measures to reduce the impact of devastating ocean surges and erosion of the community as well as construct a 4km road that was requested by the community.
