Betta Edu: Foundation Begs Tinubu and Nigerians to Give Second Chance

Tinubu-Betta-Edu

A Non Government Organisation, DJ Foundation has begged President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians to forgive the actions of Betta Edu, Minister of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for allegedly transferring N585,198,500.00 into a personal account According to the Spokeperson of the Foundation, Adam Alaka, the minister might not have followed the due process but the money was sent and used for the main purpose.

“Being eager to get things done might not come with the due process but the intention should count. Betta is one person that has proved herself since mounting the office and that is why some people witch-hunt her. She has delivered in the little time she was in office,” asserts Alaka, emphasizing Edu’s proactive approach and dedication to the ministry’s objectives.

“At least, Rasheed Zubair, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, responded to the development by stating that the N585.198 million payment for the disadvantaged group was made in accordance with the law,” he states.

According to him, the reason the award was paid to Oniyelu Bridget’s account is that the fellow is currently the Project Accountant for Grants for Vulnerable Groups. He clarified that “The N585.198 million award was intended to support vulnerable populations in the states of Lagos, Ogun, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.”

In essence, DJ Foundation’s plea for clemency centers around the belief that Betta Edu’s positive track record and dedication should outweigh any procedural lapses in the monetary transactions. The response from the Minister’s Special Assistant emphasizes strict adherence to legal requirements in the fund transfer, seeking to address concerns about the propriety of the transaction.

These add depth to the narrative, providing insight into the foundation’s perspective and the official response from the Minister’s office.
