Benue State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and hooligans before and during the last general elections. It recovered dangerous weapons from their various hideouts.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wale Abass, said: “Our operatives did so well during the elections. They arrested 10 suspected armed robbers in Makurdi before the elections. The command received complaints about the hoodlums terrorising the residents before it went after them.
“Meanwhile, the Operation Zenda arrested suspected kidnappers in various parts of the state.
“Some were about to carry out operations within Otukpo/Makurdi axis when they were arrested. Others were chased and arrested in their various hideouts in the forest.
“The suspects confessed on their mode of operation. We recovered some AK 47 rifles, magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition and guns from them.”
He commended his officers for job well done before, during and after the elections: “They have proved to the public that police really prepared for the elections.
“We have deployed officers in all the flashpoints to ensure peace all the time.” He solicited for the cooperation of members of the public to maintain peace, warning the youth to eschew violence.
