BBA Motors opens flagship showroom in Lagos, unveils Zeekr 9X luxury electric SUV

BBA Motors Nigeria has officially unveiled the Zeekr 9X in Nigeria, marking the first time the premium electric sport utility vehicle is being introduced in Africa.

The unveiling took place during the opening of the company’s new intelligent flagship showroom in Lagos on March 6, 2026, an event that also witnessed the delivery of the first unit of the luxury electric SUV in the country.

The event attracted notable personalities including Nigerian music star D’banj (Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo), who received the first Zeekr 9X delivered in Nigeria.

Also in attendance was Oyebanji Oyelaran Oyeyinka, alongside business leaders, financial and leasing executives, ride-hailing partners and media representatives.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BBA Motors, Ms Rebecca Jia, described the launch as a significant milestone for the company’s expansion in Nigeria and the wider African automotive market.

According to her, the company’s mission is to bring globally competitive automotive products and localised services to Nigerian consumers while strengthening trade ties between Asia and Africa.

“In the Nigerian market, our core mission is to bring world-class Chinese automotive products and thoughtful localized services to local users,” Jia said. “The opening of this showroom is a new starting point for our brand upgrade, while the debut and first delivery of the Zeekr 9X marks our entry into the high-end new energy vehicle segment.”

She added that the company aims to provide a broad range of vehicles, from everyday commuter models to high-end luxury vehicles, supported by tailored services, such as fleet procurement, leasing, maintenance and ride-hailing support.

The Zeekr 9X, developed by global premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr, is a flagship all-electric SUV designed to combine high performance, intelligent technology and luxury comfort.

Product specialists at the launch said the vehicle has been adapted for African conditions, with modifications to suit Nigeria’s climate and road environment.

The SUV features a high-safety lithium battery offering a driving range of up to 560 kilometres on a single charge and a combined range of up to 1,250 kilometres.

The model also supports ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 30 to 80 per cent in about 28 minutes, while its thermal management system is optimised to maintain efficiency in temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

For performance, the top version of the vehicle is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing a combined peak power of 310 kW and capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Inside, the SUV offers Nappa leather aviation-grade seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, a panoramic digital cockpit with a 15.4-inch central display, and an advanced voice interaction system for hands-free vehicle control.

The vehicle also comes with the Zeekr AD intelligent driving assistance system, featuring multiple radars and cameras that support more than 20 driver assistance functions, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intelligent lane change and automatic parking.

BBA Motors said the launch of the Zeekr 9X signals the growing presence of luxury electric vehicles in West Africa and positions Nigeria as an important market for next-generation mobility solutions.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the first Zeekr 9X in Nigeria to D’banj, with Jia handing over the keys during at the ceremony.

The music star, also known as the Koko Master, said the vehicle’s advanced technology and BBA Motors’ localised service support influenced his decision to purchase the luxury electric SUV.

To mark the inauguration  of the flagship showroom, BBA Motors has launched two exclusive opening benefits,  one of which is the offer of full model line from now until March 31, 2026, during which  customers who purchase any China-manufactured passenger or commercial vehicle at the showroom can enjoy exclusive car purchase subsidies.

The second is a limited launch offer on the Zeekr 9X, which avails first 10 customers (within Lagos) who book the model during the event period  the opportunity to enjoy  benefits, such as a free home charging pile with standard installation service, and three years of free basic maintenance and five years of free roadside assistance service.

Guests at the event had the opportunity to explore the vehicle during a static display and scheduled exclusive test drives.

The Lagos showroom will also serve as a hub for BBA Motors’ broader operations in Nigeria, including vehicle sales, rental services and ride-hailing fleet supply.

The company said it plans to expand its service network across the country while introducing more vehicles tailored to the needs of Nigerian consumers.
