In a stunning UEFA Champions League display on Tuesday night, FC Bayern Munich crushed Atalanta BC 6–1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, sending a clear message of intent ahead of the quarter-finals.

Bayern dominated from the first whistle, racing to a 3–0 lead by halftime. Josip Stanišić opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing off a clever corner from Serge Gnabry.

Michael Olise doubled the lead from outside the box in the 22nd minute, assisted by Dayot Upamecano.

Gnabry scored from the centre of the box after being set up by Olise, extending the lead to 3–0.

Atalanta attempted to respond through Nikola Krstović and Gianluca Scamacca, but Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig denied their efforts.

Before the break, Bayern nearly added another as Gnabry struck the crossbar in the 44th minute after a series of attacking moves. Earlier attempts by Nicolas Jackson and Dayot Upamecano also went close.

Atalanta’s best late chance came in stoppage time when Scamacca’s header from close range was blocked after a headed assist from Mario Pašalić.

The second half saw Bayern continue their assault. Nicolas Jackson netted the fourth in the 52nd minute, followed by Olise again in the 64th minute. Jamal Musiala made it 6–0 in the 67th minute, leaving Atalanta shell-shocked.

The home side salvaged a late consolation when Mario Pašalić scored in stoppage time.

Bayern were relentless across the pitch, with key chances from Luis Díaz, Joshua Kimmich, and headers from Dayot Upamecano.

With this victory, Bayern head into the second leg with a huge advantage and look set to advance comfortably to the Champions League quarter-finals.
