The Bayelsa State government has disclosed a bumper receipt of funds accruing to the state to the tune of N215.7 bn, from February to April 2024.
The revenue windfall comprises statutory allocation, derivation, exchange rate payments, signature bonuses, and internally generated revenue.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr Ebimobowei Wodu who stated this at the Transparency Briefing for February, March, and April, disclosed that at the end of April, after all expenditure and statutory deductions, the state had N81.1b in its coffers.
Giving a breakdown of the funds, Wodu said in February, statutory allocation and other receipts after FACC deductions stood at N40.8 bn According to him, outflows include civil servants’ salaries which gulped N5.1bn, salaries for political appointees which stood at N1.5bn, N6.1bn for repayment of bank loan and other outflows totalling N15.1bn.
He stated that recurrent expenditure for the month was N4.1b while capital expenditure was N19.5bn, totalling N23.6bn.
Wodu said after all the state financial obligation N28.8bn was the balance that was brought forward to March.
In March, he said total receipts from the federation account and other sources were N76.8bn while all financial obligations including capital expenditure which stood at N35.7bn brought the total outflow to N40.2bn leaving a balance of N20.5bn in the state coffers.
The total inflow for April was N98.1b while statutory outflow was N15.3b and capital and recurrent expenditure were N46.9b and N4.4b respectively.
Wodu assured Bayelsans that Governor Douye Diri’s administration was committed to completing the three senatorial roads, the Glory Land Drive, and the new Commissioners Quarters.
According to him, the Diri administration is poised to open up the Riverine communities with a network of roads.
