Bad leadership: CAN advises youths to be active in politics

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has enjoined youths in the country to be actively involved in politics with a view to voting out bad leaders and entrenching good leadership in the country.

Chairman of CAN Abia State chapter, Rev Ojo Ojo Uduma gave the advise in Aba after observing the election of the leadership of the Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Abia chapter.

Rev Uduma reminded the youths that as 2027 was fast approaching, politicians have started heating the fire and hoping to use the youths to achieve them their aim.

The Abia CAN chairman said as leaders of tomorrow, the youths should be alive to their responsibilities by ensuring that bad leaders are voted out during the election and good leadership entrenched for the country.

“I have watched the smooth and peaceful way the election was conducted. I urge Nigeria as a nation to borrow a leaf from the YOWICAN election and allow her own elections to run in like manner.

“As youths and leaders of tomorrow, I urge you to be actively involved in politics of the day as to reshape the fortunes and future of this country by voting out bad leaders and ensure only men and women of impeccable character henceforth rule Nigeria.”

He commended Governor Alex Otti for his good works in the state and urged the youths to work towards ensuring the reelection of the Governor in 2027, to continue his good works for the state.

“Abia youths should be involved in politics as well, they should not sell conscience and votes, rather they should ensure that Governor Otti who is doing well for the state is returned for a second term.”

Rev  Chidiebere Bright Ihebirinandu
was elected chairman of Youth wing of CAN in Abia State.

In an address, Rev Ihebirinandu, bemoaning the high level of insecurity in society today, pledged to work closely with the state government in the area of youth empowerment to reduce criminality in Abia.

“We will assist security personnel to fight crime in the state through prayers. Apart from that, we are going to laise with the state government to empower our youths, by so doing, we will reduce crime drastically in the state.”

He urged youths to brace up to the challenges facing the country to be able to come out of them better citizens.
