Gunmen who abducted the Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, have reportedly demanded for N500 million ransom to set him free.
A family source said the abductors made the demand when they made contact with Aziegbemi’s family on Friday.
The source did not give further details on negotiations with the abductors.
Meanwhile, spokesman of Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the police is not aware of the ransom demand.
“I am not aware of any ransom demand. I can only confirmed what I am aware of”, he said when contacted.
Dr. Aziegbemi was abducted by gunmen at about 11 pm on Friday, March 16, close to his GRA residence in Benin City while returning home after attending a political meeting at the Government House.
