AfricaPlan partners GMI to empower youths in tech sector By Sunday Ani A nonprofit organisation, AfricaPlan Foundation, has announced a partnership with the Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) to launch a mentorship programme that will empower the Nigerian youths in the tech sector. According to the AfrianPlan’s founder/CEO, Oni Chukwu, the Foundation is focused on tackling youths’ unemployment by providing access to decent work and economic opportunities in the tech industry in Nigeria. He noted that the programme would connect aspiring Nigerian tech talents, who have passed through the Foundation’s training programmes, with experienced mentors from across the globe. “Mentees will benefit from personalised guidance, career advice, and industry insights to help them navigate the tech landscape, and achieve their professional goals. “We are thrilled to partner with the Global Mentorship Initiative to provide this invaluable opportunity for young Nigerians. Through our programmes, especially the HackathonAfrica programme, we have been able to equip Nigerian college graduates with demand skills needed to excel in the tech industry. “This collaboration with GMI will further provide our programme beneficiaries with the network and connections they need to thrive.” However, the CEO and Founder of the GMI, JonBrowning, noted that the partnership represents a transformative step forward in magnifying “our impact, directly linking mentorship with strategic development initiatives across Africa. “Together, we are not just preparing students for the workforce, we are equipping them to be the architects of their communities’ futures.”
