Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the residence of former Kano governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, days after the latter joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a post on X, Atiku said they held robust discussions on the party’s progress and how to ensure Nigeria returns to the path of good governance.
“I paid a courtesy visit to the residence of my brother and partner, His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso, @KwankwasoRM, this afternoon.
“We had quality discussions on the progress of our party, the ADC, and how we must continue the work to ensure good governance and recovery are achieved in good time for the people,” the ADC chieftain said.
In a separate X post, Kwankwaso also acknowledged the visit of Atiku, who was accompanied by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, Alhaji Kashim Imam, Alhaji Adamu Waziri and other chieftains of the party.

“I used the opportunity to personally thank the Wazirin Adamawa for his warm reception into the ADC and to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to delivering victory for the party at all levels,” he stated.
SunOnline recalls that Kwankwaso formally joined ADC in a ceremony held in Kano State on Monday.
The leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement had quit the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), where he was presidential candidate in 2023, before joining ADC.
Welcoming Kwankwaso to the party, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark noted that his arrival — along with millions of his supporters from the Kwankwasiyya movement — signals the birth of what he described as a new political force determined to challenge the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party boss further described the development as a “defining moment” for Nigeria’s democracy, saying the opposition must unite to prevent what he warned could become a gradual slide toward a one-party state.
