The Academic Staff Union of Colleges of Agriculture (ASUCA) has announced the resumption of its suspended industrial action in all Federal Colleges of Agriculture across the country.
The association’s National President, Dr Chukwuemeka Kadurumba, announced the development at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union.
He said the 14-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government to address its demands expired without any formal response, hence the resumption of the strike.
Kadurumba explained that the lecturers are demanding the withdrawal of the appointment of the substantive Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Professor Agwu Ekwe, which, according to him, did not follow due process, among other demands.

“Following the NEC meeting of ASUCA, which gave the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum that has now expired without formal response, the union is concerned about the withdrawal of the appointment of the Provost/Chief Executive Officer, Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, which did not follow due process,” he stated.
Kadurumba noted the release of scheme and conditions of service, as the current framework still dated back to 2004, and the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Academic Allowance for all Colleges of Agriculture, recently approved by the Federal Government.
“The NEC of ASUCA has therefore resolved to direct its members nationwide to resume the suspended strike, effective Monday, May 4, 2026.
“This strike will be total and comprehensive, and there is no going back,” he said.
