•Other entrepreneurs, labour icons get awards
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been nominated for “Workers’ Best Friend Award” (Pa Michael Imoudu Legacy Category), by the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN). The ceremony would also recognise top entrepreneurs and labour icons in the country.
The award scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the Eko Hotel Towers and Suites, Lagos, according to the organiser is in the recognition of the governor’s contributions in the areas of job-creation, industrial peace, trans-continental legal practice, political viability, community development and legislative dynamism.
In a release signed by the Chairman of LAWAN, Toba Agboola said the association has planned to strategically end the year with two grand events, one was its annual conference, which was held at weekend in Ibadan.
“The second, this upcoming event, is our crown-jewel, and we are honouring the Executive Governor of Imo State, HE, Hope Uzodimma, with “Workers’ Best Friend Award” (Pa Michael Imoudu Legacy Category)”.
According to LAWAN, it is a deserving award for the governor’s labour-friendly policies, especially in voluntarily agreeing to pay the highest ever minimum wage (N104,000) as well as raising the pay of doctors from N215,000 to N503,000 and that of teachers in tertiary institutions from N119,000 to N222,000.
“We are also honouring Sen. (Prince) Chinedu (Ned) Munir Nwoko with the “Monument of Excellence Award” (Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Legacy Category).
He noted that , “His award is on account of his contributions in the areas of job-creation, industrial peace, trans-continental legal practice, political viability, community development and legislative dynamism.
“Additionally, while His Excellency, Gov. Hope Uzodimma is expected to give the keynote address, Sen. Nwoko is billed to chair the event.
“Other award-winners include Amb. (Barr.) Emma Njoku, the Managing Director/CEO Prezzo Shed Investments Ltd and High Chief Bright Akachi Alozie, the Chairman/CEO, Dynamic Bright Global Resources Ltd.
“While Njoku is to be honoured with the
“Distinguished Community Service Award,” (Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Legacy Category), Alozie will be conferred with “Distinguishing Community Service Award” (Dr. Michael Okpara Legacy Category)” .
Agboola said both captains of industry are distinguished entrepreneurs who are using their vast wealth, via their foundations, to give hope and meaning to countless people and numerous communities across the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones.
He said: “Their areas of interest include micro-credit schemes, rural empowerment projects, educational endowment, investments in infrastructure among others.
