Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly among five Premier League clubs in the running to sign Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze, who is admired by Real Madrid.
Liverpool has regularly been linked with the winger over the past couple of months.
The 23-year-old has been in stunning form for Villarreal this season. He has grabbed 13 goals and 11 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
Chukwueze put in one of his best performances of this campaign earlier this month. He scored a brace as Villarreal beat Real Madrid 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This performance did not go unnoticed. Spanish outlet Defensa Central is reporting that the ‘Villarreal footballer dazzled none other than Florentino Perez, who did not hesitate to surrender to the evidence’.
Perez is said to be ‘convinced of the need to improve Carlo Ancelotti’s team, in the search to fight once again for all the titles at stake in 2023-2024’.
Chukwueze is a ‘possible reinforcement’ for Real Madrid, but the club is aware that several Premier League clubs are interested in him. ‘Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa are the British clubs that are closely following him’.
His contract is due to expire in 2024. This deal includes a €100m release clause, but with him due to become a free agent next year, Villarreal are ‘likely to let him leave’ for €50m this summer.
Speaking earlier this month, Chukwueze revealed that Arsenal came close to signing him prior to his switch to Villarreal in 2017.
