The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja charged the Combat Support Services of the Nigerian Army to ensure the effective delivery of logistics support to personnel of the force and their family, especially as their services are critical to their existence.
General Lagbaja spoke at the weekend at the combine end of the year ceremonies, commonly called West African Social Activities (WASA) put together by the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Army College of Logistics.
According to the Chief of Army Staff who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Mohammed Usman the Nigerian Army will continue to discharge its role in the defence of the country’s territorial integrity of Nigeria, adding that the effective delivery of logistics support is crucial fulcrum in which the defence of Nigeria’s integrity is hinged.
He said the Nigerian Army will continue to support the Combat Support Services to enable them build and sustain the capabilities and capacity in the year 2024.
General Lagbaja, also urged the troops of the force to remain diligent and continue to discharge their constitutional roles in defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
The Army Chief enjoined officers and soldiers of the combat support services to translate the synergy into effective and efficient service delivery of the Combat Service Support in the field.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Corps Commander Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME), Major General Hassan Tafida, on behalf of the Combat Service Support Corps and NACOLM, said that in the outgoing training year, the Combat Service Support Corps has contributed immensely to the overall successes recorded by the Nigerian Army in the North East, North West, and other operations in the country, such as Ex GOLDEN DOWN, Ex STILL WATERS.
He stressed that these exercises have gone a long way in curtailing criminal activities across the Country. He further encouraged the Combat Service Support Corps to redouble their efforts for better logistics support to all NA activities in the year ahead.
Earlier the Commander Nigerian Army Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major General Hassan Tafida commended the Combat Support Services for their ability to come together to hold the first combined West African Social Activities (WASA),especially as the combat support arm of the Nigerian Army contributed significantly to the success of the force in the year 2023.
