Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, said outcome of the Appeal Court judgement that sacked the national and state assembly members under the Peoples democratic Party (PDP), as well as the nullification of his election, has led to the death of some sons and daughters of the state.

He said they have filed their petition at the Supreme Court and remained optimistic that verdict of the apex court would validate his election and restore the mandate that the Plateau people gave him.

Mutfwang stated this while addressing supporters that accompanied him from the Yakubu Gowon Airport through the state capital to the Government House amidst downpour Saturday evening at the new Government House Little Rayfield in Jos.

“We have filed our appeal at the Supreme Court, and by the grace of God, the Supreme Court will rise to the occasion; we are confident about that. And even in the midst of the judgments, we have been given an opportunity to have a rerun for the senatorial zone, and for the Jos North/Bassa federal constituency.

“By the grace of God, when the date for the rerun is announced, we know that some people will run away. And by the grace of God, Nigeria and the world will know that the people you elected were not a mistake because I know you will uphold those elections when the time comes.

“Plateau will be saved, nobody will be allowed to disturb the peace of Plateau. Nobody will be allowed to collude with people to destroy Plateau, and by the grace of God, we will reach the Promise Land,” he noted

The governor, in the last one month, has not been stable in the state following the election petition legal tussle, which he said has affected his line up of activities for the state, describing it as a temporary delay. But he assured citizens of the state that there was light at the end of the tunnel over the mandate they willingly gave him.

“I wish I have been around in the last one month to continue to provide good governance to the people of Plateau State. I want to thank Plateau people, I want to thank Nigerians and use this opportunity to say thank you to our friends across the globe. I want to thank all those who have taken interest in the matter of Plateau.

“I want you to know that I am proud to be your servant, and I am glad that you have given me the opportunity to serve you. I will dedicate the rest of my life to making sure that Plateau is better. I am proud to be a Plateau man, and I am proud that in the cause of this journey, Muslim brothers stood up to plead with God on our behalf. I am glad that our Christian brothers have stood with us.

“Nobody will divide or separate us. We are determined that Plateau will be united, and we are uniting because we want to make progress. What God has ordained for both the Muslims and the Christians, nobody will frustrate it,” he noted

Mutfwang described the setback recorded in the appeal as a distraction and a momentary delay.

“In the journey of life, there must be times of delay and distractions. We experience it in everyday life, and I want you to know that what we are experiencing is only a distraction, a momentary delay.

“By the grace of God, it shall be temporary. The journey we began on February 20 this year, even though we are dislocated, but we are not out, we have been hit with some blows but we are not down, God is on the throne.

“I am pretty sure that you tears will not go in vain. The anguish you have expressed to God will not go in vain. Some of our brothers and sisters have died because of this setback. Some people’s blood pressure have risen, but I want you to know that God is still in charge,” he stated.
