The Nasarawa State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of violating the nation’s electoral laws by commencing full campaigns, organising rallies, erecting billboards and posters on the walls and streets when INEC has not formerly declared the commencement of public campaigns by political parties.
According to a two page communiqué issued, on Thursday, in Lafia, after its meeting and signed by the chairman, Haruna illiyasu Favour, the group equally expressed concern over the lingering face-off between the state government and organised labour, adding that it has cause untold hardship to the people of the state especially children whose academic future is being jeopardized due to the ongoing strike.
IPAC also expressed disappointment in the APC-led state government for voiding the invitation of other political parties in the state to participate in the historic event that marks Nigeria civil rule among other issues affecting the development of the state
He observed that the absence of the leadership of the APC in the meeting when the notice was extended to the party does not augur well for the smoothening of rough road towards effective inter- party dialogue in the state.
Iliyasu, however, congratulated the state government on the occasion of democracy day which was observed on May 29th but however said political parties other than APC in the state are not happy that the government did not involved them in the activities, being key stakeholders in the spirit of mutual coexistence, harmony and of democracy in the state and the country at large.
