In a move to strengthen unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Prince Michael Diden, popularly known as Ejele, has withdrawn the court case instituted against Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and pledged his full support for the senator and the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development followed a reconciliation meeting between Senator Thomas, representing Delta South, and Diden at the latter’s residence, in a move widely described as a significant step towards peace, unity and renewed cohesion within the APC in Delta South.
The reconciliation meeting was attended by a delegation comprising the Delta South Senatorial Chairman of the APC, Prince Emmam Amgbaduba; Chief of Staff to the Delta State Government, Prince Johnson Erijo; chairmen of the eight local government areas in Delta South and other prominent leaders and stakeholders of the party.
The meeting, which was characterised, was convened to promote lasting peace, strengthen internal cohesion and consolidate the party’s support base ahead of the 2027 elections.
At the end of the meeting, Diden announced his decision to withdraw the legal action against the Senator and pledged his commitment, alongside his supporters, to work with the Senator to secure victory for the APC in Delta South and across Delta State.
The reconciliation is expected to further strengthen the party’s political structure in the senatorial district and enhance its readiness for the forthcoming presidential, national and state elections.
Speaking on the development, Thomas expressed profound appreciation to the leaders and stakeholders who contributed to the reconciliation, saying the renewed unity would strengthen the APC and position it to deliver massively for all its candidates.
He particularly commended the Delta State Governor and leader of the APC in the state, Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as uncommon leadership, wisdom and commitment to fostering unity within the party.
He said: “First, I want to give special and heartfelt appreciation to our leader in Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State.
