From Paul Orude, Bauchi

All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Bauchi Central Senatorial District have begun mobilising support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.

Speaking at a town hall consultation meeting held at Chartwell Hotel, Misau, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Chairman of Contact and Mobilisation for Buba’s ambition, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Sade, described the senator as one of the most qualified candidates to govern the state.

Sade praised Buba’s philanthropic gestures, which extend beyond Bauchi South, and argued that the senator should be supported in 2027 due to his contributions to the APC and his efforts to promote party unity.

“Senator Shehu Buba is a uniting factor not only in our party and Bauchi State but across the entire country,” he stated at the town hall meeting, which attracted thousands of supporters.

“We are out to preach the gospel of Buba across the nooks and crannies of our dear state,” Sade added.

Also speaking, the APC Women Leader in Darazo, Rashida Abubakar Mohammed, described Senator Buba as a lawmaker with empathy and a commitment to helping the less privileged, prompting their call for him to run for governor.

“He has been able to advance his representation beyond his constituency,” Mohammed said.

“He has intervened in our affairs and given us the needed support. That is why we all resolved in Darazo to start our financial contributions to pay for his governorship ticket.

“We are going to do this, even if it is ₦50 million; we are ready for it.

“We are women and are ready to support Buba. We are already mobilising for him, and he has to heed this call to serve.”

The event was attended by stakeholders and prominent politicians from the Bauchi Central zone, including Misau, Darazo, Dambam, Ningi, Ganjuwa, and Warji local government areas.
