Prominent chieftains of the Abia State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have continued to throw their weight behind the election of Donatus Nwankpa as the national welfare secretary of the party.

Latest amongst them is Hon Daniel Chimezie Okeke, who described the appointment of Nwankpa as a round peg in a round hole, just as he hailed President Bola Tinubu, the Party’s National Working Committee, NWC and National Executive Council, NEC for arriving at the decision to elect Nwankpa to occupy the National Leadership position.

According to Daniel in a statement on Wednesday, Nwankpa, a former Party Chairman of the state, has the required leadership skills and qualities to impact the fortunes of the party at both the National and state levels.

The 2023 APC candidate for Ohafia/Arochukwu, Nwankpa, described those opposing Donatus Nwankpa as the brains behind the disunity of the party in the state, urging them to turn a new leaf and rally around the newly elected National Welfare officer.

Daniel said that Nwankpa’s new role is an attestation of his dedicated service and tireless efforts to the advancement of our party and the country.

Okeke lauded Nwankpa: “Your elevation to this significant position is a just recognition of your invaluable contributions. Your remarkable ability to connect with individuals, empathize with their needs, and devise effective strategies to address them stands as a commendable trait that undoubtedly positions you to serve the party and its members with distinction.

“As you step into your new role as the National Welfare Secretary, you undertake a vital responsibility that encompasses the holistic well-being of our party members and the wider community. Your mission to ensure the support, engagement, and motivation of our members is of paramount importance, and I have full faith in your capacity to excel in this role. Your extensive experience and history of fostering unity and inclusivity are poised to bring about a positive transformation in the overall dynamics of the party.

Okeke assured that Nwankpa’s tenure will usher in achievements, innovation, and positive change, saying that Donatus’s unique perspective and unyielding dedication are certain to infuse fresh ideas and contribute to the growth and strengthening of the APC.

It will be recalled that the National Working Committee on Wednesday added six members to its fold in line with the directives of its National Executive Council, NEC.

NEC had at its last meeting ceded part of its power to the NWC to allow the party’s administrative organ to fill vacant NWC and zonal positions.
