The Accord Party in Osun State has asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) poses no significant challenge to the re-election campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
During a press conference in Osogbo, yesterday, state chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, emphasized that the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, lacks the necessary popularity and public support to contest effectively against the incumbent governor.
Akande explained that Adeleke’s administration enjoys widespread backing across the state, attributing this support to his people-oriented policies and governance style.
“The candidate of APC, with due respect, is not a threat at all to our candidate. We know what that party stood for in this state; we know what we experienced when they were in power. People rejected them completely because of the suffering and untold hardship that APC inflicted on the people of Osun State,” Akande said.

He recalled the detrimental effects of the previous administration, mentioning that issues like half salaries led to hardships for pensioners, who struggled to afford medications due to delayed payments. Akande described the situation during the APC’s governance as one marked by abandoned projects and neglect.
Contrasting this with the current administration, he noted, “When the present government came onboard three years ago, everything was transformed.
A living witness is the flyover bridge in Oke-Fia; projects are ongoing in every nook and cranny of this state.”
He reiterated that Adeleke’s administration has garnered significant acceptance among the populace, asserting, “The people of Osun State don’t want APC again; they have been rejected.”
Addressing the party’s leadership crisis at the national level, Akande clarified that there is no internal tussle within the Accord Party, affirming that Maxwell Mgbudem is the legitimate national chairman of the party.
