The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of abandoning governance and concentrating solely on the 2027 general election instead of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that the APC was more concerned about retaining power than solving the country’s economic and security problems.
“If you listen to them, they have only one problem today; the only problem they have as far as they are concerned is the 2027 election,” Abdullahi said.
“When you listen to them, that’s what they talk about as if they are in opposition, as if their mandate has ended, as if they don’t have a duty to solve the problems that the country is confronted with,” he added.

Abdullahi also criticised the Federal Government’s handling of the fuel subsidy removal, arguing that the policy was poorly implemented and had worsened the hardship faced by Nigerians.
“We say that this removal of subsidy, the manner the government has gone about it, is wrong. ADC will not do it the same way,” he said.
The ADC spokesperson pledged that the party would review the subsidy policy if elected into office, with a focus on easing the economic burden on citizens.
“Our immediate concern is how do we ease the burden on the people,” Abdullahi stated.
He maintained that the ADC was committed to offering Nigerians an alternative approach to governance centred on improving living conditions rather than focusing on electoral politics.
