Anxiety has gripped the metropolitan area of Kano State following the alledged Influx of unfamiliar commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators into the state.

An intelligence brief by a security analyst, Abubakar Abdullahi, dated 30 November and cited by Daily Sun indicated that there is a noticeable increase in unfamiliar commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators within the metropolis.

The brief recommended the deployment of plain-cloth operatives across strategic transport hubs and the registration and profiling of all tricycle and motorcycle operators in the state.

Daily Sun recalls that the state government had years ago placed a ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles, but the mode of commercial transportattion had resurfaced in the last few months.

In its response to recent public concern on the subject, Kano State government said it was committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Kano citizens.

A statement signed by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs ,Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya on Monday said that appropriate measures were being deployed to contain security challenges across the 44 LGAs of the state.

“The State Government wishes to inform the public that our competent security agencies are on top of the situation” the statement explained in respect to the fears of the alleged influx.

“While the state has provided all necessary support to the security agencies, it remains determined to provide any additional assistance required to ensure that they perform their mandate comfortably, professionally, and effectively”.

While the Government acknowledges the public recommendations on enhanced monitoring, including surveillance at all entry and exit points of the state, the Kano State Government wishes to assure citizens that these suggestions are currently being reviewed as part of a broader security assessment and response strategy.

The statement said that the administration would continue to work closely with local government leadership, traditional institutions, community leaders, security agencies, and citizens’ groups to ensure that full-scale security, stability, and peace were restored in the state. End.
