Reminiscing the inclusive administration of former Governor Willie Obiano, Anambra Development Union is celebrating his zeal for economic growth in the state.
ADU, in celebrating the former Governor at 67th birthday, highlighted over 60 commendable projects initiated and executed by Obiano, as well as the funds he disbursed to help various businesses.
According to ADU, Obiano distributed over N1.5billion to support Small and Medium-scale Enterprises with special focus on farmers, women and the youth.
The group’s spokespersons, Alex Osaemeka and Chukwuka Udeokeke, noted that his administration was marked by commitment to business growth, which included creating the Anambra Small Business Agency for development of micro investments and access to loans and grants.
The address read in part, “His Excellency created the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency as a one-stop shop for investors, which attracted lots of investments to the state. “He also established the Digital Entrepreneurship Office for the nurture and expansion of TechNovation and Digital Entrepreneurship and launched the Youth Empowerment and the Creative Economy Council with a view to unlocking the creative potential of the Anambra youth in a manner that will address unemployment more decisively.”
The former governor was also recognised for ensuring seamless payment of allowances to the security agencies, while creating jobs from investments in agriculture, loans and other policies and programmes; launch of the Akulue Uno Campaign, which led to new investments like Coscharis Farms, Anaku, Joseph Agro, Lynden farms and Delfarm/Songhai, and Stine Farms as well as the Stanel World and SABMiller Breweries among others.
