The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has praised the senator representing Anambra South, (Dr.) Emmanuel Nwachukwu, for his unprecedented performance within six months in office.

The secretary general of the apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Chief Emeka Sibeudu, gave the commendation yesterday, in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, during a thanksgiving mass and interactive session with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) members across Anambra South, organised by the senator, in appreciation of the privilege given to him to represent the area.

Sibeudu, a former deputy governor of Anambra State, said that Senator Nwachukwu, within the short period in office, called the attention of the federal government to the multiple gully erosion sites eating up communities within the senatorial district.

“Despite distractions, Senator Nwachukwu was able to draw the attention of the federal government to the deplorable condition of federal roads in the area. He is also working closely with the Federal Ministry of Power to ensure that this senatorial district enjoys electricity.

“The senator also drew the attention of the federal government to the devastating erosion challenges affecting many communities across the senatorial zone,” he said.

While assuring the senator of continued prayers and support of the people, the Ohanaeze chieftain urged him to focus more on working for the people, now that election litigation is over.

Also, the immediate past vice president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ichie Damian Okeke-Ogene, commended Senator Nwachukwu “for having his eyes on the ball,” and for not being distracted from what he was elected to do at the senate chamber. He urged the senator to remain steadfast in attracting democracy dividends for the people.

Earlier, in his homily during the thanksgiving mass, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence, Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpalaeke, reminded Senator Nwachukwu of the circumstances that led to his emergence.

“Senator Ifeanyi Ubah died. Because nature abhors vacuum, you emerged from among many others that aspired to succeed him. Therefore, do not be distracted from the purpose for which you were elected into the national assembly. If you deviate, history will not be kind to you,” he admonished.

In his own speech during the event, Senator Nwachukwu recalled that he was elected on August 16, 2025, when he won a bye-election in the senatorial zone; adding that the six months he has spent, so far, at the National Assembly were not smooth, as he was dragged from the tribunal to the Appeal Court by his opponents.

He said despite trials, he took the voice of his senatorial zone to the national assembly, drawing national attention to the deplorable condition of federal roads connecting communities within the senatorial district. He added that, as senator representing the zone, he engaged the power sector with urgency and purpose, working closely with the federal ministry of power and critical stakeholders to ensure that electricity is made available to the people.

He added that he drew the attention of the federal government to the devastating erosion challenges affecting communities across Anambra South.

The senator thanked the church for continuously offering prayers for his success. He also thanked Governor Charles Soludo as well as political stakeholders and other members of his senatorial zone for standing behind him during the election that led to his emergence as senator. He also assured that he would continue to work hard for the betterment of both the senatorial zone and Nigeria in general.

The event was attended by the National Chairman of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa; former deputy governor of Anambra State -now the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief (Engr) Emeka Sibeudu; the immediate past Vice President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ichie Damian Okeke-Ogene; members of the state House of Assembly, mayors of local government areas, party stakeholders and supporters, as well as community leaders within the senatorial district.
