Members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Oyi Local Government Areas of Anambra State, on Tuesday, restated their resolve to ensure that Governor Willie Obiano gets re-elected in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
They said that plans have been perfected to ensure that the governor sweeps the majority of the votes to be cast in the 15 wards drawn from the five communities that make up the council area.
At a stakeholders rally held at Oyi council area secretariat which was attended by Transition Council members, government officials, APGA faithful and other party stakeholders, the party boasted that with its strategic roadmap, the election was done and dusted.
Addressing the crowd, the Transition Chairman, Oyi, Hon. Uchenna Okafor, explained that the present administration of Governor Willie Obiano had maintained high level of prudence in financial management irrespective of the meager resources caused by the present economic crunch.
Okafor pointed out that the welfare of the people had been one of the cardinal objectives of Governor Obiano, which was evident in the prompt payment of workers’ salary and allowances, even when his counterparts in other states were financially incapacitated, “not minding the recent bailout which Anambra was not included.”
He noted that the present government would continue providing permanent and sustainable solutions to every challenge in the state, including provision of adequate facilities and enabling environments that would enhance socio-economic productivity.
The Chairman of APGA in the council area, Mr Onochie Mkpuechina, noted that the gathering which was part of their monthly affair was geared towards harmonising the structure of the party, and cementing its foundation for Governor Willie Obiano’s second term bid.
The highlights of the event were reception of some PDP and APC members and commissioning of their new secretariat.
