The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Anambra State Chapter and Anambra Consensus Project (ACP) a nongovernmental organisation, yesterday urged all political parties and candidates to avoid violent campaigns during the election.
The state chairman of CAN, ApostleTim Okpala and President of ACP, Dr. Emeka Eze said the direction the state will go depends of the kind of leadership the state has.
They said such leader must have the willpower to propel the Christian faith irrespective of religious denomination through evangelism and empowerment of the people.
The two groups said they agreed and accepted to work together to articulate means, methods, protocols and processes in the enthronement of “a veritable, dependable, credible, intelligent, and devoted Christian leadership in Anambra State during the forthcoming governorship election and beyond”
They also agreed to encourage the various candidates from different political parties by leading in prayers for their upliftment and successes.
“We shall also pressure the victorious governor to hold fast on election promises, focus on positive state-wide development to inculcate equity and fairness in employments, cater specially for the mother and child and show immense commitment for the development of the state” the group stated.
