Anambra Commissioner for Information loses sister

The Commissioner for Information in Anambra State, Sir Paul Nwosu, has lost his sister, Dr. (Mrs.) Juliana Chibuogwu Nwazuruoke, fondly called Chio.

Married to Emmanuel Mary Nwazuruoke of Achina, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on December 16, 1989, the union was blessed with four children – a lady and three young men.

The deceased would be buried in her family compound, Emma Nwazuruoke’s compound, opposite Amaiyi field, Achina on Saturday, May 25, this year, after a Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Achina.

Nwazuruoke, who earned a PhD in Maternity and Child Health Nursing, served as the Provost, Anambra State College of Nursing Sciences from 2022 till her death. She had retired from Anambra State Civil Service in 2016 as Principal of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital School of Midwifery, Nkpor.

After retiring from civil service, she was at Madonna University of Nigeria, Elele as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Nursing, between 2017 and 2021.

In the Catholic Church, she also served God and humanity in various capacities, including as the Africa Regional President, International Catholic Committee of Nurses and Medico-Social Assistants (CICIAMS), National President of the Catholic Nurses Guild of Nigeria, and President of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Woliwo, Onitsha. She also served on the Marriage Advisory Council of Onitsha Archdiocese from 2008 till her sudden death.
